BUYING BACK PRODUCTIVITY: THE TRUE VALUE OF PREMIUM FREEZER WEAR

In the high-cost world of cold storage and subzero environments, efficiency is everything. Workers in these extreme conditions face a unique challenge—time. The limited duration they can spend in freezing temperatures of -25⁰C directly impacts productivity, operational efficiency, and ultimately, profitability. While many businesses look for cost-effective protective wear, the reality is that cutting costs on PPE purchases can lead to greater long-term inefficiencies. This is where Delf Freezer Wear is important, not just as protective gear but as an investment that buys back productivity. The Cold Storage Productivity Challenge Cold storage environments are some of the most unforgiving workplaces, with temperatures often plunging as low as -25⁰C. Under such conditions, workers currently only operate for short periods, approximately 40 minutes before requiring breaks to warm up. This cycle of frequent downtime disrupts operations, slows workflows, and reduces overall efficiency. Low grade freezer wear exacerbates the issue. Insufficient insulation, poor design, and discomfort force workers to take breaks more frequently, limiting their time inside the freezer’s areas. This lost productivity translates into higher labour costs, slower turnaround times, and operational inefficiencies. Premium Freezer Wear: An Investment in Productivity Delf Freezer Wear is designed to extend operational time. High-quality insulation, hollow fiber plus properly designed boots, suits and head gear ensuring that workers remain warm, comfortable, and fully functional for significantly longer durations in subzero conditions. The benefits are clear: The Cost vs. Value On the surface, Delf Freezer Wear might seem like an expensive option. However, the real question businesses should ask is: What is the cost of lost productivity? Let’s break it down: Conclusion: A Smarter Business Decision When businesses invest in Delf Freezer Wear, they are not just purchasing protective clothing—they are buying back productivity. The ability to extend working time in cold storage facilities, improve efficiency, and lower long-term costs makes high-quality freezer wear an essential investment rather than an expense. CASE STUDY: KALAHARI CUTS – MEAT PROCESSOR

Barpro Storage was approached by J-P Knipe regarding a Holding Freezer for his business, Kalahari Cuts, located in Mooiplaats in Pretoria East. Project description Barpro Storage in collaboration with Universal Storage Systems (racking installers) provided a Rails and Mobile Ready Racking System which enabled 368 pallet positions with a storage capacity of 441.6 Ton. Rails The project was executed in 2 parts by the laying of the rails. With the installation of rails Barpro ensure that there is high density polyurethane under the rails. Precool, a manufacturer of insulated panels and cold rooms provided insulation on the floor. Once the rails were in and the floor had been poured, post pour floor levels were taken to ensure that the floor is level with the rail. Polyurethane is a plastic material, which exists in various forms. It can be tailored to be either rigid or flexible and is the material of choice for a broad range of end-user applications such as: insulation of refrigerators and freezers.– www. polyurethanes.org Mobile Ready Racking System Barpro and Universal proposed the Mobile & Static Racking system to Kalahari Cuts to allow for future expansion within the facility as the need arises. With this solution Kalahari Cuts can double their storage capacity with the installation of mobile bases using the existing racking structure. This is a single storage solution for Kalahari Cuts as the need for storage capacity increases. Barpro technicians wear Delf freezer protective wear that allows them to install the bases at operational temperatures. This product is designed to minimise the risk of & provide protection against extreme cold and any risk related activity. Barpro is a proud supplier of the Delf Freezer wear range. Additional protection has also been provided for the racking system such as: Talk to us and let us provide you with the best solution for your storage facility. Barpro Storage has proudly laid claim to be the pioneers of the Storax mobile system in Southern Africa, with our first installation being completed over 25 years ago. The advantage that Barpro has is that after 25 years in the business, and with over 280 installations to look after, we have built up the infrastructure necessary to support our customers, from Namibia to KZN, from Cape Town to Mauritius, with technicians travelling the whole region, and all spares – even complete systems – being locally manufactured. We are proud of our customer base. One such company is Sparta Foods in Welkom, leading suppliers of top quality beef and other frozen products in the Free State. Four years ago, Barpro Storage was offered the opportunity to install a Storax mobile racking system which provides fully accessible storage for well over 2000 tonnes of product.  Barpro Storage was also involved with the training of Sparta’s staff in the operation of the system and has supplied Delf freezer wear to keep operators warm and productive while working in this hostile environment. Recommendation:” I am highly satisfied with the professional manner that Barpro Storage handled the entire project. I will surely recommend them to anyone who requires such a system.”
