Let’s look at a case study of one of our existing clients as an example: CASE STUDY A well-known meat wholesaler required additional space within their existing freezer facility. The 1700m² space had a capacity of approximately 1920 pallets on selective fixed racking. The objective of the project was to increase the pallet positions with a mobile racking solution. A new floor was installed together with 4 Barpro mobiles increasing the capacity to about 2555 pallets. 1: Supply and installation of rails and support stools on a new floor at the existing premises In this instance, the racks were installed on a new floor. Overlay floors on top of existing floors can also be considered. 2: Supply and installation of 4 mobile bases with wooden bumper protection & individual control system In 2023 the customer purchased 2 additional mobile bases to be installed on the existing rails at operating temperatures. This increased total capacity to approximately 2877 pallets. The potential pallet capacity of the store with 12 mobiles is 3983 pallets. Another use for forklift/ reach trucks?

We all know what forklifts are used for but let’s do some out-of-the-box thinking. For example, how about using a forklift or reach truck to sweep your cold store floors? In this article, we look at the forklift brush attachment that reduces the need for manual labor, increases productivity, and handles materials safely. A suitably sized forklift brush can: What is the forklift brush attachment? The brushes are easily attached to any fork truck and are versatile enough to sweep up debris in your cold store. Sweeping a freezer store by hand is an uncomfortable and difficult task. A reach truck with a heated cab could brush an access aisle in minutes, bringing any rubbish to the front of the gangway where it could be easily picked up. The same procedure could be used in a mobile racked store, thus preventing debris from impeding movement of the mobile bases. Reach trucks with heat cabs are particularly suitable as the sweeper does get cold. RACK INSPECTORS’ MOST RECENT REPORTED DAMAGES

Greetings from Barpro’s certified Rack Inspector (SARI). My year of inspections has flown by, and we are on the doorstep of 2024. I want to wish all our customers a peaceful and Merry Christmas. I want to show you some pictures of all the types of damage I picked up during my travels. Many, or should I say all of them, were in plain sight for anyone walking or driving down an aisle. Are we so set in our ways that we think we can still load on top of these damaged parts, or is it a case of ‘’we don’t know’? The funny thing is that any of these damaged parts can cause a major collapse or even loss of life. We often don’t realize the full extent of the damage. We should not turn a blind eye to the potential dangers of the damage. Even our maintenance departments, Rack installers, or Rack manufacturers can cause these problems. The following photographs may make your hair stand up, but these damages are real.
