Initially the Barpro workshop was set up to make spares for existing Storax systems as clients couldn’t wait for replacement  fabrications to be sourced from Europe.  This is important as a significant percentage of local  Storax systems have been operating for over 10 years.  In emergencies, fabrications can be made up, painted and despatched within 48 hours of order placement. The workshop now also makes smaller Storax systems and supplies additional bases to clients who have rails installed in their freezer room or warehouse floors.  Additional bases are installed in the cold by Barpro technicians, suitably equipped with DELF Coldwear suits, and are made to STORAX specifications. At current exchange rates, locally made Storax systems can be competitive with imported ones. Lead times are generally halved.  Barpro Storage also holds rail stocks in Cape Town.

Made from hard, tough wood and finished in our workshops, each bumper weighs around 75kgs and provides protection to guide wheel units at the front of the mobile bases. Easy to fit, they provide a simple solution to prevent damaged wheel units and control boxes. They are designed to protect the front wheel units against forklift and reach truck impact and are coated with a varnish or a stained coating. They also give a smart finished look to the Storax Mobile Racking System. Occasionally cracks appear in the bumper before any type of impact has occurred. This is normal as the wood which has moisture in it, continues to dry out, even in a cold room. To combat the effects of cracking, two cuts are made on the reverse side of the bumper to relieve the stresses in the wood, resulting in minimal cracking. So, should the bumpers in your store develop cracks before any impact occurs this would be considered normal.
