Another phase completed at Bella Frutta!

In early July 2019, Gary Smith’s installation team finalized the phase three mobile racking at Bella Frutta, a large fruit packhouse in the Western Cape. Designed for a store of 537m2 the Storax mobile racking has capacity for 702 high cube pallets in a clear height of 8500mms each with a max weight of 1260kgs. The 7 mobile bases were manufactured at Barpro’s Cape Town factory and the racking superstructure was provided by Ron Bonthuys and his team at Dexion Cape.

Storax mobiles are becoming increasingly popular in fruit stores as they almost double  storage capacity over fixed selective racking while still allowing immediate access to every single pallet location.

Pallet movements by forklift are kept to a minimum reducing product damage while stock control and rotation challenges simply disappear.

As pack house Engineering manager Fransu says, “There is a good reason why we bought the second and third mobile racking system. The first one we bought in 2015 really works for us. This is the way to go in the fruit storage industry. We link a storage position to every pallet’s ID on our stock program. We do this by scanning the pallet barcode as we load the mobile racking. The Mobiles make it then very easy for us to get certain pallet with unique ID’s as the market request them.
I really like working with Barpro. This is a professional company. The installation is exactly on time. The drawings is well made. Paper work is in order. The installation team is neatly dressed. And the precision of work done is very good, especially the leveling of the tracks done by Danie.”
