Barpro Storage has trained over 250 delegates in Rack Safety Awareness
Barpro Storage has trained over 250 delegates in Rack Safety Awareness, through workshops educating companies on how to perform weekly checks and caring for their racking systems.
Barpro Storage’s trainer, Barri-Leon Malherbe is a SEMA registered Rack Inspector. The training sessions are based according to SEMA guidelines. The number of companies that have received the Barpro Rack Safety Awareness training includes cold storage facilities in South Africa and Namibia.
The training is well-received by staff and is attended by forklift drivers, supervisors, pickers, and warehouse supervisors.

The training sessions consists of two parts – Practical and Theoretical:
Theory
- The effects of pallet racking accidents on a business & its people
- The need for rack inspections
- Type and frequency of inspections, responsibilities of suppliers and users
- Racking components and the role they play
Practical
- How to use the Barpro rack inspection to complete inspections
- Completing the paperwork, record keeping and collating
- Total practical and theoretical training is 5-6 hours
- Barpro provides resource material and tools to assist with internal inspections
Outcome of the training :
Companies will be able to appoint a PRRS (Person responsible for rack safety) who will be responsible to perform weekly inspections.
Goal :
Instigate a reporting system for accidents, to monitor damage & regular visual inspections
