At just after 11:00am on Monday 5th August  Barpro Storage’s maintenance department received an order for one guide wheel unit. The guide wheel unit had been damaged at a Storax system in Cape Town and was causing operational problems.

After checking the design specification for this particular Storax system she passed on the details to Danie Coetzee, Barpro’s work shop manager.

Using material already in stock for just such an emergency, Danie had the wheel unit fabrication welded in Barpro’s special jig by 14:16. The wheel unit was then allowed to cool and was quality checked.

By 17:46 the same day, the wheel unit had received its two coats of paint, in Barpro’s new paint shop.

The following morning at 08:25, the wheel unit was loaded onto Barpro’s delivery vehicle and taken to site where it was installed by Gary Smith, Barpro’s senior site supervisor.

This achievement comfortably beat Barpro Storage’s 48 hour rule for the dispatch of mechanical spares. Congratulations to all involved.
